Please Be Careful with Free 1040EZ Preparation offered at local tax chains. Besides the potential for bait and switch, many young dependents may rush to take advantage of this offer only to put their taxpaying parents at a disadvantage. If they fail to mention to their preparer that they can be claimed by someone else, they will file claiming their own exemption, which necessarily blocks their parents or guardians from properly claiming them.
